Orthodontics can be divided into two stages and the patient often requires these stages of treatment. The first stage, called the Preventive is performed in childhood and includes procedures such as preserving the space for the eruption of permanent teeth, braces for the correction of open bite or cross bite, and yet the treatment of skeletal defects of the jaws with orthopedic appliances.
